A historic Somerset pub, falling into ruins.

  • Set in beautiful scenery, Wraxall is located on the outskirts of Bristol and a satellite village to Clevedon and Nailsea.

  • Home to 950 people, Wraxall is a tight-knit rural community that has been missing a local hub after the closure of The Battleaxes Pub in February 2020.

  • A beautiful listed asset with unlimited potential for a mixture of community focussed uses, new workspaces, cafe and farm shop to complement the new homes and offices.

Having been a key community asset for decades, The Battleaxes has fallen into disrepair having been vacant for almost 4 years. It is ready to be re-invigorated, to become the focus of Wraxall and the surrounding communities once again. Set in stunning, rural North Somerset, The Battleaxes has long been the focus for the community - and we want to get it back into use and enjoy by the community once more.

The site is located on Bristol Road to the west of the city, offering links to nearby Nailsea, Backwell and Tickenham.

The single acre site consists of:

  • The former three storey Battleaxes pub and caretaker lodge

  • A redundant car park and outbuildings

  • A redundant garden space and large hard standing areas

Bringing back your ‘local’. With a twist.

It all begins with a vision. Battleaxes presents a unique opportunity to revitalise a stunning asset and create a place where people want to spend time in Wraxall.
